After receiving countless inspiring and creative responses for the Top Ten Reasons to Stand and Pray contest, the Austin Coalition for Life has selected a winner! Sidewalk Counselor Jennie Stone has been praying and counseling at abortion facilities in Austin and Bryan/College Station. We hope her Top Ten Reasons to Stand and Pray make you smile and encourage you to become part of this life-saving ministry!
Jennie's Top Ten Reasons to Stand and Pray in Front of Abortion Facilities:
10. Even during the most emotionally grueling days in front of an abortion facility, you can find comfort in knowing that Jesus is standing right beside you the entire time.
9. During 40 Days for Life, there is a surreal feeling in knowing that you are participating in one of the largest life-saving demonstrations of peace and prayer in history – not only does it save innocent lives, it drives abortion-rights-advocates crazy!
8. Watching young children pray for the safety of their unborn brothers and sisters is probably the most beautiful sight you could possibly see.
7. Nothing is more fun than talking to people through a metal mesh fence while spiky plants stab your legs at the Planned Parenthood abortion center in Bryan, TX!
6. Having the great privilege of witnessing first-hand God's miracles when women turn away from the abortion facility and choose life for their baby instead.
5. Once in a while an angry honker will even throw free stuff out the car window at you! (Anyone want the rest of that Diet Coke?)
4. Getting honked at – whether a friendly "beep-beep!" or an angry, deafening "BRRRHHHNNNKKK!" – because either way, you know that you've made someone think about the atrocity of abortion.
3. Standing in icy December wind huddled with fellow pro-lifers in prayer in defense of the most vulnerable is a somewhat humbling experience, to say the least.
2. Being called things like "misogynistic anti-choice extremist" so many times that you start writing it on name tags by accident.
1. Seeing the look of desperation on an abortion-minded woman's face turn into one of relief when she decides to talk with a pro-life counselor about life-affirming options.
Congratulations Jennie!
